Garden Plants |

Here is my first Aloe Vera plant! As you can see, it has been living a VERY unhappy life in a terra cotta pot at the edge of the patio. I decided to repot it, as you can see.
I have had this plant for several years. I think I got it in 2017 or 2018, as one of those tiny little 4" houseplants you are supposed to put in your window. Of course it outgrew being a houseplant, and thrived for years as a yard plant. And then it got enormous and started making a ton of pups! I gave one to a work friend back in 2020 or 2021. I hope hers is still hanging tough like mine. :) |

These are some loquat trees i planted from seed given to me by my grandmother. I've never actually had a loquat fruit before, and I have no idea if I'll like them, but she said they grew into pretty trees. I wanted to see, so I planted them. These are about a year old--I planted them last December and January of this year. These are very special, because she passed away last Thursday--September 28, 2023.
She loved sewing and gardening. I wish I'd gotten to spend more time with her. |
This is my Monterrey Cypress tree! It's not chlorotic, it's supposed to be that color--it's a "Lemon Cypress" tree. I got it from Target in 2021 as one of those sad, doomed little "Mini Indoor Christmas Trees", which people usually keep around to look cute until they start to look pale and crisp from lack of sun, at which point people toss them, because the holidays are over. :( I always find 'temporary/"Decor" plants to be a sad trend, especially something that's supposed to be as long-lived as a tree! This little guy was in a 4.5" pot originally, and now is living in an 8" pot which it will probably have outgrown by next spring. It's trunk is a bit crooked because I live in a windy area and it got knocked over, and when I repotted it, I didn't tamp the dirt down enough on one side. Still, I think it's a cute little tree. And the leaves really do smell lemony, when you break a piece off and crush it! |
